l'avventura di Giovi

19 settembre: incredibile sconfitta contro contro gli atlantici della Bluefild University che castigano i Bears alla prima sconfitta stagionale. Un primo tempo dominato da Giovi e compagni che portavano lo score sul 2 a 0 all'inizio del secondo tempo. Poi in 20' gli avversari reagivano e trovavano il pareggio quanto all'ultimo minuto i Bears beccavano un tiro da fuori che chiudeva la partita con la perdita di imbattibilità da parte della Truett McConnell University.

Il tecnico della TMU, Rob Miller, era deluso a causa della perdita dell'imbattibilità occorsa alla propria squadra: "Tuttavia, abbiamo perso contro una compagine i Bluefield, molto buona, a soli 42 secondi dalla fine. Spero che la delusione possa accendere un fuoco dentro di noi per avere subito la rivincita contro Montreat, mercoledì prossimo".

Giovi molto arrabbiato per la scarsa gestione tattica della partita e per il fatto della seconda ammonizione per proteste. ) amminiti in tutto: 6 dei Bears e 3 per gli avversari.  

13 settembre: ancora Costa sugli altari che segna due reti e liquida la prestigiosa Oglethorpe University che partecipa alla NCAA conference (mentre la Truett McConnell University alla NAIA Conference).

Giovi ha giocato per 66' cercando di giostrare il gioco dei Bears che sciacciando gli avversari trovavano qualche difficoltà nell'imporre la propria superirità. Giovi quindi ci ha conferito della indisciplina tattica che in tal senso è assai acerba. 

The TMU Bears traveled to Atlanta to take on a NCAA Division III opponent, the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe University. Coming into the match both teams were undefeated and the Stormy Petrels were just ranked twelfth in the latest NCAA Division III national poll. 

In the first half, the Bears had more of the scoring chances by dominating possession in their offensive half, while Oglethorpe tried to play conservative defense and attempted to capitalize on possible counterattacks. The possession would pay off for the Bears, leading to a goal off the head of Joao Costa from an assist by Jacob Sharp in the seventeenth minute. The Bears would take their 1-0 lead into the half. 

The second half started with a similar feel to the first half, Bears retaining the majority of possession with Oglethorpe trying to fend off the attacks. The persistence of the Bears would pay off, resulting in a goal off a free kick by Joao Costa in the fifty-ninth minute. This goal would spike urgency in Oglethorpe's squad. Nevertheless, the Petrels remained scoreless, and the match ended with the Bears defeating the Stormy Petrels 2-0. 

"Good result against another nationally ranked program in Oglethorpe," said Coach Rob Miller after the match. He went on to point our improvement the team needs to make as it enters conference play, but he was otherwise pleased with his team's performance, especially in how they made adjustments in the second half of the match. 

8 settembre: gli Orsi dell'Università della Truett McConnell University hanno affrontato gli Nighthawks (i falchi notturni) of Thomas University, che hanno un certo credito nelle classifiche nazionali.

Cleveland (GA) The Bears of Truett McConnell University faced off against the Nighthawks of Thomas University, who were ranked #20 in the nation coming into the match.

The majority of the action took place in the second half, after a highly contested first half played by both squads. However, by the beginning of the first half, the Bears found themselves down 1-0.

Though they were down, the Bears continued their relentless pursuit for an equalizer. Their efforts would result in a goal from Victor Clemente, assisted by Felipe Nunez in the forty-ninth minute. This score would merely fuel the Bears' hunger for goals. Clemente would score his second goal off of a pass from Joao Costa in the sixty-fifth minute, and the Bears still had more scoring to do. Though the Bears found themselves down a man by this point, Jacob Sharpscored the Bears' third goal in the eighty-first minute, giving his team a 3-1 lead with less than ten minutes left in the match. The Nighthawks were able to answer with a goal of their own in the eighty-second minute, but the damage had been done and the Bears would hold on to win their fifth match of the season with a score of 3-2.

"It was a great team effort today!" said Coach Rob Miller. Miller would go on to explain how proud he was of his team's showing today, especially how they were able to keep their composure while playing with a man down in the final portion of the match. Looking forward Miller said, "We have got good momentum going into conference play next weekend, but first we have a tough game against Oglethorpe on Wednesday." The Bears' matchup against Oglethorpe will kickoff at 5pm in Atlanta.

1 settembre: i Bears si fanno rimontare dal 3 a 1 dopo le tre reti firmate da Joao Costa ma Giovi trova il modo di imbucare l'altra punta carioca Frederico Divino per vincera 4 a 3. Un assist importante per Giovi che muove ancora le sue statistiche così importanti negli States.

Cleveland, GA| Friday night the TMU Bears soccer team faced off against the Brescia University Bearcats from Owensboro, KY. The match proved to be a high scoring affair between the squads with the Bears taking the majority of the shots in the match, but the Bearcats were very opportunistic in their offensive chances in their counter attacks. 

The Bears struck first in the eighteenth minute when Joao Costa converted a PK opportunity after a handball was called against Brescia inside the box. Less than ten minutes later, in the twenty-seventh minute, Costa put the ball in the back of the net off an assist from Darian Bowen. TMU's defense played strong during the first half limiting the Bearcats to just three shot attempts and TMU's Evan Gaffney saving both shots on goal. 

The second half provided most of the fireworks from the match in which five out of the seven goals were scored, nineteen of the thirty shots were taken, and both the yellow cards were given. The Bearcats scored their first goal in the forty-sixth minute, but Costa would complete his hat trick in the fifty-third. Despite the 3-1 lead, the match was far from settled because Brescia would fight back with two goals of their own, and the contest was tied with only thirty minutes remaining. The deciding goal would come off the foot of Frederico Divino after an assist from Giovanni Giraudo in the sixty-third minute. The Bears would cling to their 4-3 lead for the remainder of the match, resulting in their third win in as many games. 

"Good feeling to be 3-0 for the season," said Coach Miller after the game. "We learned about ourselves today and faced a lot of pressure. Tomorrow will be a different test for us and the boys are looking forward to getting back on the field tomorrow!" The Bears' next match is September 2 against CIU at Reinhardt University at 2 pm.

Venerdì sera la squadra di calcio di TMU Bears ha affrontato i Bearcats dell'Università Brescia da Owensboro, KY.
La partita si è rivelata molto combattuta con i Bears che avevano in mano il gioco ma  gli avversari, i Bearcats, erano molto opportunisti nelle loro possibilità offensive delle loro ripartenze. 
I Bears hanno colpito 18' quando Joao Costa ha trasformato un'opportunità all'interno dell'area. Meno di dieci minuti dopo, al 25' protagonista ancora Costa concludeva un assist di Darian Bowen. La difesa di TMU esibiva un forte contrasto  ed il portiere Evan Gaffney si esibiva in tre ottimi interventi.

Nel secondo tempo la partita ha offerto veri fuochi d'artificio in cui sono stati segnati cinque dei sette gol.
Nonostante il vantaggio di 3-1 dei Bears La University of Brescia si portava in parità.  La vittoria veniva marcata grazie alla rete di Frederico Divino dopo un ntervento di Giovanni Giraudo che lo imbucava davanti al portiere avversario al 73'. nel sessantatre terzo minuto. I Bears si aggrapparono al loro 4-3 di vantaggio per il resto della partita, portandoi a casa la conseguente terza vittoria.

"Buona sensazione di essere 3-0 per la stagione", ha detto Coach Miller dopo la partita. "Domani sarà un test diverso per noi e i ragazzi non vedono l'ora di tornare sul campo" La prossima partita di Bears è il 2 settembre contro CIU presso l'Università Reinhardt alle ore 14.00.
